Four New Committees to Get More Done

The board formed committees for Parks & Beautification, Events & Programming, Communications & Outreach, and Finance & Governance. Each one is open to neighbors.

At its August 12 meeting, the MNA board voted unanimously to form four committees. The goal is to spread the work out and make it easier to follow through on neighbors' ideas.

The committees

Parks & Beautification. Chair: Dave Meko. Improvements at the Miramonte Pocket Park, plantings, cleanups, and how the neighborhood looks day to day. Chicane care is handled by a separate chicane committee.

Events & Programming. Chair: Charles Casey. The events calendar, including the fall cleanup and Halloween, plus partnerships with local businesses.

Communications & Outreach. Chair: open, with Marc Salerno leading for now. The newsletter, MNA-Email, Facebook, and getting more neighbors connected, especially renters and business owners.

Finance & Governance. Chair: Ellen Wheeler. The budget, 501(c)(3) filings, registration with the City, and the bylaws.

Early results

The committees went to work quickly. Parks & Beautification walked the Pocket Park, set dates for fall and spring neighborhood cleanups, and met with Tucson Parks and Recreation. Events & Programming organized this year's Halloween parade and reconnected with St. Mark's about working together.
